CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 27th Special Operations Wing introduced a new design for its wing emblem here, April 25, 2022.
The new style is designed to represent the unit’s special operations mission. New features of the emblem include a spear tip representing the military preparedness of Air Force Special Operations Forces to swiftly and quietly mobilize as a fighting force. A globe and arrow, representing the 27 SOW’s mission to execute specialized airpower anywhere around the world, has also been introduced.
The heritage of the previous emblem has been retained in the new look with fields of golden yellow and ultramarine blue from the original design representing the colors of the United States Air Force. The blue field on the upper half of the emblem alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. The yellow field on the lower half of the emblem refers to the sun and the excellence required of all Airmen.
