CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Agencies of the 27th Special Operations Wing are keeping their doors open until 8 P.M. every Thursday to help meet the needs of Airmen working past normal duty hours.
These extended customer service hours, known as Operation THURSDAY, allow select support agencies to provide services to Airmen whose duty day may not meet standard operating hours.
“Operation THURSDAY is an important quality of life initiative that allows flexibility in the support we provide to our Air Commandos who are getting the mission done around the clock,” said Col. Ben Maitre, 27th Special Operations Wing commander.
Operation Thursday was introduced in August 2015 at Cannon to promote resiliency among military members and families by offering flexibility to the base community. This initiative promotes resilience and adaptability for Air Commandos.
The full list of agencies participating in Operation Thursday can be found here. Anyone is welcome to make appointments and take advantage of the after-hours customer service; all appointments and cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance.
The name Operation THURSDAY is rooted in Air Force Special Operations Command history as it was during this WWII operation that the Air Commando was born. For a full history on Operation THURSDAY click here.
