CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Cannon Office of Special Investigation agents invited local police departments to Cannon, Dec. 8.
The meeting allowed base OSI agents to show local police officers the base, as well as socialize and get to know one another better. According to OSI, this is part of a constant effort in keeping relationships tightly knit between Cannon and the local communities.
The agents were shown around the base to learn about many of the Air Force Special Operations Command facilities that keep the mission at the base rolling.
“Being able to showcase a premier installation like Cannon to the community that helps protect it was truly an honor,” said Special Agent Justin Söderlund, 27th Special Operations Office of Special Investigations commander. “We certainly cannot do our job without them, and their continued support of anything for Cannon is something I've never experienced at my duty locations around the world. I was both humbled and blessed to be a part of the event.”
After the base tour, the local police officers returned to The Landing Zone, the base club, to socialize with base security forces leadership and Airmen. There, families of both sides came together to eat dinner and raffle off prizes.
More than just a base tour, the collaborative efforts helped ensure that, no matter which side of the fence they’re on, security personnel remain in top shape. Whether it’s by communicating with each other or participating in exercises with each other, all efforts to work together strengthen readiness and security capabilities all around, benefitting not just police forces but also the entire community of Portales, Clovis and Cannon.
